They have raised the stakes to being “humanist.” OK. Way back there was confusion about “suffragettes” who marched, made noise and invaded saloons for prohibition. Some women wanted to avoid being lumped with that. There were however “suffragists” who were men and women dedicated to working for and supporting universal voting rights, sort of the humanists of their day. Labels get hi-jacked sometimes, and branding someone a feminist is often accompanied by the most negative aspects. Who would want to label themselves?
