Is Taylor Swift’s New Song About Harry Styles? [UPDATED]

[UPDATE]: The song is reportedly a fake written by a Swift fan, not Taylor Swift herself.

Songbird Swift isn’t so great at the whole long-term relationship thing. The 23-year-old reportedly recently broke ties with One Direction beau Harry Styles, her rebound from high school hotshot Conor Kennedy, and returned to the studio Thursday to record a new song. “Back in the studio,” she tweeted Thursday after a slew of headlines following her split, adding “Uh oh…” She had good reason to include that second part, as she’s known to write tunes about former flames after they’ve wronged her.

That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if the song below, which is allegedly the tune Swift recorded in the studio yesterday, turns out to be legitimate. The song, leaked by publicity assistant Alex Goldschmidt on Tumblr and Twitter, seems like it could be about Styles. The singer sounds like Swift as well, and given her reported break-up, she had the right kind of inspiration to go into the studio and belt her torn up little heart out.

The lyrics appear to be about Styles too, as the female singer compliments his “green eyes” and “contagious smile” before reflecting fondly on a trip to New York they had together. Sound familiar? The song, of course, doesn’t end on a happy note, just as Styles and Swift apparently parted ways on sour terms. “I’ll pretend that I’m all right,” the singer chants. “We’re busy people with busy lives, we can’t keep up on this, so goodbye. Call me up at 3 a.m., sing me Stevie Wonder songs again.” Wait, she WANTS to be the 3 a.m. girl again?! Oh girl…
