Miranda Priestly Is Almost Back and She is Still Wearing Prada

Miranda Priestly: Do you know why I hired you? I always hire the same girl- stylish, slender, of course… worships the magazine. But so often, they turn out to be- I don’t know- disappointing and, um… stupid. So you, with that impressive résumé and the big speech about your so-called work ethic- I, um- I thought you would be different. I said to myself, go ahead. Take a chance. Hire the smart, fat girl. I had hope. My God. I live on it. Anyway, you ended up disappointing me more than, um- more than any of the other silly girls.

The sequel to the hit book, which inspired the uber-successful film adaptation, The Devil Wears Prada, is almost here but for now we at least have its cover. The new book, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns has been released. And….actually it’s really not that exciting a cover but this book is still going to do unbelieveably well and I’m sure the film rights have already been bought. From Entertainment Weekly:

“Revenge Wears Prada picks up eight years after former Runway magazine assistant Andrea “Andy” Sachs parted ways with Miranda Priestly on bad terms. Andy is now editing The Plunge, the hottest bridal magazine around, alongside Emily, her one-time Runway nemesis turned current BFF. While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she runs into the legendary editrix once again.”

Ahhh! I cannot wait to read this! I think they should have given Miranda Priestly her own TV show where each week she just tortures a member of her staff and then they learn some kind of lesson. It could have been called The Miranda Diaries. But for now, we will just have to settle for the book.

A bridal magazine? Oh dear, just because of that I will skip it… how about editor of Atlantic Weekly or the New Yorker? No offense to bridal magazines, but as a fan of Andy, I can’t imagine that’s where she would land. What a weird choice.
