Women’s Site Lists “Good” Reasons To Fake An Orgasm

If you’ve ever faked an orgasm to make your partner feel better, you should pat yourself on the back, says a writer for The Gloss.

In a new piece titled, “5 Good Reasons To Fake An Orgasm,” Jennifer Wright has compiled several scenarios in which you should pretend to enjoy yourself. Though the writer raises a valid point at times, the justifications revolve around the other participant, and the experience should not be all about that person. If you ever find yourself feigning a cry of pleasure, just hope you’re not doing it for the reasons Wright suggests:

1. You are an actress: “You are preparing for a role. Or you are a sexy-time actress, and you are being paid to look like you are enjoying yourself fully. Fake away.”

Hold the phone, are you likening us to prostitutes? This isn’t Gossip Girl; we’re not paid to make out with people. If you feel like you have to put on an act for your partner, you’re probably in the wrong relationship.

2. You have dinner reservations: “Sometimes you have stuff that you need to get to. Yes, you could say ‘it’s not happening for me, and I want to go eat popovers more than I want to continue having sex,’ or you could fake it.” Research shows women think about food more than sex, so if that’s applicable to you, opt for the meal first and then hit the sheets, but don’t waste your time forcing something when you’d rather stuff your face with a hamburger.

3. You aren’t feeling the sex: “Sometimes, people are nice, and doing everything right and you realize that you really don’t want to keep sleeping with them because you’re just not feeling it. In which case, you can fake it and then send them merrily on their way.” Or you could just say, “I’m sorry, this is awful, I’m going to go now” without making the two of you suffer.

4. Your partner is sad: “Your partner just got fired and is not at their best in bed? Maybe this is a time to boost their ego.” That’s dishonest and wrong on so many levels.

Though almost everyone does it at some point, there’s never a “good” reason to fake an orgasm. Just get a better or more compatible boyfriend.
