If you include this word in your cover letter, you have no future.
Kidding! Kind of. A new infographic by LinkedIn finds that people in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, and Sweden overuse the word “creative” when describing themselves professionally. Other overused words are “effective,” “motivated,” “multinational,” “responsible,” “analytical,” “experimental,” and “specialized.” Take a look at the data below and then go give your resume and cover letter a makeover. Even if you avoided these terms, it never hurts to clean up your professional materials.
