The Sun Publishes Worst Headline Ever: Bella Santorum ‘Ends Rick’s White House Dream’

It’s a good thing that 3-year-old Bella Santorum, the daughter of former presidential contender Rick Santorum, isn’t old enough to be picking up a copy of the news, as The Sun just published what is perhaps the most offensive headline possible about her: “Sick daughter ends Ricky Santorum’s White House dream.”

The article refers to Santorum’s Tuesday exit speech, which came days after his little girl’s second campaign hospitalization. Born with rare genetic condition Trisomy 18, which is known to take the lives of children before they reach their first birthday, Bella Santorum came down with pneumonia earlier this year, influencing her dad to briefly put his campaign on hold. A father of seven living children, Santorum has said of his youngest child Bella, “She doesn’t talk in a way that you would understand but she talks in a way that we understand. She’s a happy healthy girl. Like everybody else, like every other kid she gets sick. The problem is when she gets sick it is life threatening.” Who better to blame for the downfall of a candidate than a miracle baby?
