The Worst Moment For Feminism On The Bachelor Last Night
10:30 am, March 12th | by Sarah Devlin
What a journey it’s been! We’ve watched Sean Lowe and Catherine Guidici fall in love over the past few weeks, destroying pillars of feminism like so many wilted roses along the way. In honor of their engagement and inevitable break-up, let’s end this with a good old-fashioned poll.
Was the worst moment for feminism when, at the beginning of the episode, Sean said “I could see Catherine as my wife, but I also see Lindsay as my wife as well”? This show is, at bottom, about culling a single dude’s harem down to one girl, but I don’t know if we’ve ever heard a Bachelor blatantly say that he could marry either one of his final two (the implication being it would make no difference).
OR, was the worst moment for feminism watching the reactions of the student audience that Chris Harrison kept referring to as “Bachelor Nation,” who reacted to commercial breaks like they had just seen someone murdered in front of them?
Guys, it’s a tough call. You go ahead and vote while I work on the website for my “Bachelor Nation” detox/support group. You can also re-watch the “After The Final Rose” special below, via Hulu.
