The Worst Moment For Feminism On The Bachelor Last Night

We’re in the home stretch. Last night Sean eliminated AshLee the professional personal organizer, leaving him with only two girlfriends! This is the great American love story for sure.

At this stage in the show, almost everything that comes out of the Bachelor or his ladies’ mouths is, at minimum, not great for feminism. From the insistence that the exotic traveling dates “feel just like a normal couple’s vacation” (you know, before the Bachelor leaves to wine and dine his other girlfriends) to the women all declaring their love for the Bachelor, who has to receive those declarations without saying anything in return, lest he give away the surprise at the end. So romantic!

If I had to choose the worst moments, however, I would have to say the points on his dates with AshLee and Lindsay when Sean expressed a desire to “test” them by making them swim through a dark and scary cave and eat a bug, respectively. Nothing says “love” like violating someone’s boundaries and making them uncomfortable! He did no such testing for Catherine, which in retrospect makes me think he might like her the most, and view himself merely as a benevolent life coach for the other two. How kind of him! How bad for feminism.
