At this Sunday’s Oscars, the tiniest nominee may make the biggest impact: Quvenzhané Wallis is the youngest actress ever to receive an Oscar nomination for best actress. Now 9, Quvenzhané was just 5 years old when she won the leading role as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild. Another female nominee at this year’s show, Jennifer Lawrence, also made an “Oscar first” by being the youngest person to have been nominated for two best actress Oscars. Quvenzhané and Jennifer are following in the footsteps of other young women and little girls who have taken past Academy Awards by storm with their wins and noms.
