This is What Going Home for the Holidays Will Be Like

Christmas doesn’t only mean candles burning low, lots of mistletoe, and choirs singing carols right outside your door, despite what Stevie Wonder might sing. If you are one of the many valiant emotional warriors who go home for the holidays, Christmas also means avoiding your fundamentalist step-uncle who is just dying to rant about Obamacare, skirting around the topic of your new tattoo, tolerating a handful of unequivocally invasive weight comments, shoving food into your mouth anytime you are asked to comment on your (closeted) cousin’s Facebook default which features RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinx Monsoon, delivering lectures on twerking to a rapt audience of white parents, and expending most of your energy pulling out wine corks and refilling your empty mug. “Home For The Holidays” is a terrifyingly accurate depiction of what your life will be like in a matter of…oh, five or fewer days. With this video, we shall be remembered — We few, we miserable, emotionally-exhausted few, we mess of millennials.
