Tig Notaro’s Advice for Teenage Girls is Relevant at Any Age

From the same wonderful Rookie series in which Jon Hamm and Jon Hamm’s five o’clock shadow shared their — I imagine they confer on things — thoughts on lady farts and Beth Ditto taught us that “self-love is not selfish,” this video of comedian/writer/dream date Tig Notaro proves that she deserves everyone’s adoration. In Ask a Grown Woman/Man various celebrities, like Hamm, Ditto, and now Notaro, play agony aunt, dishing advice to the lot of hopeful, creative, scared, curious, and/or lovelorn teens that frequent Rookie every month. Notaro’s installment is hilarious, compassionate, honest, and poignant — frankly, it’s the best one yet.
If you agree that this video perfect — which you will, because you are a human person (…allegedly) — be sure to check out Notaro’s weekly podcast, Professor Blastoff. Listening to it is like finding the Golden Fleece, throwing it into a blender with some club soda, liquifying it, and pouring the Golden Fleece spritzer into your ear….which doesn’t sound pleasant, come to think of it, because, just, believe me, it is!
