Tina Fey’s SNL Promos, Praise for New ‘Weekend Update’ Anchor Cecily Strong

Yesterday we spent the afternoon basking in Amy Poehler’s radiance as if she were the real world equivalent of the Teletubbies‘ Sun-Baby. Today’s weather forecast: funny with a chance of TINA FEY! (…We apologize profusely.)
As we reported earlier, Fey is hosting Saturday Night Live‘s Season 39 premiere. If for some reason you weren’t excited for her appearance (because you are a robot parading around as human, wearing a suit made out of living tissue. The 600 series had rubber skin, but you are new. You look human — sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot), these promos featuring Fey and Kenan Thompson are bound to win your favor. They have everything: Breaking Bad references for all you Baddicts, a freeze-frame shot, even a little bit of nudity.
The Fey also issued her judgement on Cecily Strong’s appointment to the “Weekend Update” desk. Her verdict? She is entertained. When Rolling Stone asked whether Strong was a good choice for anchor, Fey gave a resounding “oh, yeah.” “One thing that will be sad is that she’s really great at ‘Weekend Update’ features, so you’ll kind of miss that” She told the magazine while backstage at the Emmy Awards. “You have to be comfortable being yourself on camera [as anchor], which she’ll be great at.” Getting a thumbs up from Tina Fey herself? Not a shabby way to start your tenure as “Weekend Update” anchor!
