Is Tory Burch Already In A New Power Couple?
5:30 pm, February 20th | by Meredith Lepore
Wow. Talk about power couples. There are some rumors circulating that Tory Burch is dating Google’s Eric Schmidt after only breaking up with her boyfriend of five years a few weeks ago. But The New York Post is denying that this is anything more than a business relationship. An inside source said, “There is a malicious rumor being put out there that Tory and Eric are dating, which is 1,000 percent not true. Tory and Eric admire each other strictly on a business level. Eric is an investor in her company and a business adviser, and speaks to her board.” Would this really be so bad, though?
This would be like the power couple to end all power couples. She is a titan of fashion and he is a titan of the internet. And it’s not like Tory hasn’t been half of a power couple before. Her husband Chris Burch (with whom she just finally settled her lawsuit) was a very wealth businessman and she just got out of a relationship with Warner Music head Lyor Cohen. Not too shabby.
But Tory is pretty powerful on her own. Tory started 2013 off as a newly minted billionaire. This is partly due to her ex-husband finally selling his stake in her company. According to Bloomberg, the sale of the 28.3% stake is worth $3.3 billion. Tory’s stake in her company is worth around $935 million — add in the $70 million Tory has made in the last ten years from equity sales and dividends and you’ve got Tory Burch, the billionaire.
