Tory Burch Chummy with Vera Wang Prez, Jamie Tisch Moving into UES Digs … and more

Welcome to Scene and Heard, Mogulite’s regular column tracking the moguls who play as hard as they work. From charities to parties and from St. Barths to Davos, we leave no stone unturned. Eat your heart out, Robin Leach.
Last night we feted the Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at its fourth annual Spring Ball. We also caught up with some moguls in the house…
– Event Co-Chair and fashion mogul Tory Burch told us she’s jetting off to Taiwan on Sunday for the opening of a new store, likely the first of several new outlets in Asia (Burch said her label is planning to expand across the continent in the coming months). Burch was decked out in a jewel-toned purple Vera Wang gown, which she said her “friend Mario pick out” for her. And, for the record, when she said her “friend Mario,” she meant Mario Grauso, the President of Vera Wang. Sure. And I was dressed in a J. Crew skirt. Which my mom picked out for me. Take that, Burch!
– Recent New York City transplant Jamie Tisch was also on hand to Co-Chair the ball. Tisch — who said she was relieved the weather was finally warming up — is currently moving into her new home on the corner of 70th Street and Park Avenue. So what’s she doing with her off-time? “Moving! Unpacking!” We’ve all been there, Jamie. Well, maybe not in such great digs.
– Jeff Zucker was in the house, as well. But — no matter how hard we tried! — he wouldn’t give us the inside scoop on those Katie Couric rumors. Drat.
– She might not be a mogul, per se, but Sigourney Weaver wasn’t above cracking wise on the business crowd. Weaver, who was seen high-fiving her husband, Jim Simpson, said the Sloan-Kettering cause was close to her heart because of her father’s past with melanoma. After looking at our Mogulite card, she giggled: “Mougl-LITE? Oh, aren’t they all?” Touche, Weaver.
