Stewart: Required Abortion Ultrasound Like a “TSA Pat-Down Inside Their Vagina” [VIDEO]

“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart never disappoints us with his humorous take on otherwise troublesome societal issues, and he inspired many laughs out of us last night when he compared the proposed mandatory transvaginal ultrasound to uncomfortable TSA pat-downs.

For his second “Punanny State” installment, Stewart discussed the new piece of Virginia legislation that would require women undergoing abortions to also have an ultrasound. Thankfully, the women wouldn’t have to actually look at the ultrasound, but Stewart insinuated that this wouldn’t make the procedure any easier. Stewart also played old footage of Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell stating the TSA pat-downs are “probably over the line,” illustrating the stark contrast between the politician’s views on ultrasound wand intrusions and airport touching.

“This is like a TSA pat-down inside their vagina,” Stewart explained, adding that something being slid into a person’s private areas against their will is akin to rape. (Of course, some reports today have suggested the governor may be backing down on his stance, so maybe this will all just go away?)

Stewart also showed us two cringe-worthy parts of “A Clockwork Orange.” If you’ve seen the film, you can probably guess as to which scenes I refer, but if you haven’t watched the cult classic, these clips are enough to make you want to skip out on the flick entirely. Stewart played the unforgettable scene in which a man is forced to view a theater screen with his eyelids pried open, of course meant to reflect the psychological torture one may feel when enduring an ultrasound. The other scene features a man chasing a woman with a giant penis, similar to the phallic wand that is part of the ultrasound process.

We won’t equate TSA pat-downs or the ultrasound measure to rape, but if enacted, the latter could lead to many humiliating and unpleasant experiences for Virginia females. Our friends at Mediaite grabbed the Stewart clip, so watch yourself for his full perspective on the matter.
