(T)Workin’: Vol. 1
11:00 am, April 1st | by Colette McIntyre
It’s hard out here for a young professional: wages are getting lower, work hours are getting longer, and you barely even smiled at that GIF your friend just sent you. But don’t reach for the 5-Hour Energy just yet — sometimes all you need is a good jam to help you get by.
We’re here to help. Each week we will supply you with a free and streamable office playlist (consider us your John Williams and your workday our Harry Potter); these are the Jane Dough-approved tunes that’ll wake you up, keep you focused, soothe your nerves, and help you celebrate the end of day. So put in your earbuds and drown out the sound of your co-worker drumming his fingers on his desk. Why be working when you could be (T)Workin’? To listen to today’s playlist as a continuous stream, just click here.
8:30 – 9:00: Get into the office, put down coffee, immediately Gchat your friend about hating Mondays.
Ane Brun, “Do You Remember”
9:00 – 12:00: Discover that you forgot to save the Excel spreadsheets you finished yesterday, start working up a stress sweat, consider calling your mom from the bathroom.
12:00 – 1:00: There’s a burrito truck parked outside your building and you just found a twenty in your pants pocket!
Funkommunity, “The Light”
1:00 – 3:00: The cute account manager with the ginger beard just laughed at your joke. Do you want to kiss him on the mouth? You want to kiss him on the mouth.
3:00 – 6:00: You just realized that you’ve been staring at the orchid on your desk for a half-hour. You’re not sure if you blinked. Did anyone notice? How is it only 3:00?!
6:00: You started talking about PBS programming with your deskmate and now you’re stuck in a Youtube black hole but that’s okay because the day is over; let’s get — wait, what is this? LEVAR BURTON, WHAT IS THIS MADNESS YOU HAVE WROUGHT?!
