Uh, What?! DSK’s Wife To Head HuffPost France?
6:45 pm, December 22nd | by Hillary Reinsberg
In perhaps the strangest news we’ve heard all week, Anne Sinclair, the wife of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who was bizarrely voted “France’s Woman of the Year” this week, has even more bizarrely announced that she’ll be running Huffington Post France.
HuffPo France is reportedly set to launch in January, and Sinclair, who used to be a TV journalist, says she’s going to be the editorial director. Strangely, no one from the Huffington Post has confirmed this to be true. But Sinclair tells The Daily Beast it’s a fact.
Sinclair did have a legitimate journalistic career before, but she undoubtedly became globally known when her husband was accused of sexually assaulting a hotel maid and being involved in a prostitution ring. Not to mention, he was also a politician.
Should those things preclude a woman from running a news site? Perhaps not, but we’re perplexed by the glorification of this woman who stood by her husband’s side as he was accused of these things. Women should be entitled to do anything they want regardless of who their husbands are, but when it means supporting a man involved in degrading women, it’s a different story. Isn’t it?
