Creepy ‘Vaginal Tightening Gel’ Ad Wants Women To Seem ’18 Again’ [VIDEO]

It’s way too early in the morning for me to be typing the words “vaginal tightening gel.” But I’m going to give it a shot.

A new product in India called (seriously) “18 Again” promises to tighten your ladybits. This, presumably, is so sex will be more pleasurable, you stretched-out, cavernous trollop.

And how will vaginal tightening gel make you feel? According to one commercial for the product, it’ll make you feel “like a virgin” again. Oh. Goody.

The Young Turks had the T.V. spot and some interesting commentary:

To be sure, there’s plenty of products designed to plump, firm, extend, swell, enhance, harden and otherwise manipulate a man’s member. Men are not immune from penile insecurity-driven marketing. But the message in the ad for 18 Again goes beyond even the creepiest of male-enhancement marketing schemes (yes, even including Enzyte’s terrifying spokesmode).

Beyond the grossness of grown men lusting after 18-year-olds, the ad reinforces the idea that women are undesirable beyond virginity. It’s a concept Jessica Valenti tackled her book “The Purity Myth” — the idea that purity is somehow linked to a woman’s value as a person. In this case, however, the guys want to have their virgin and sleep with her too. And if you can’t be a virgin, be the closest thing to it… with vaginal tightening gel. Ick.

Ladies: DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS. It DRIES OUT your vagina, to simulate friction and therefore a “tighter” vagina. But all it does is create a dangerously unhealthy environment that shouldn’t be recommended to anyone.

This never was and never will be for women. (Because, first of all, I never want to go back to being a virgin, kthx.)
