IBM CEO Virginia Rometty’s Salary Gets Doubled
6:37 pm, February 3rd | by Hillary Reinsberg
New IBM CEO Virginia Rometty just got her salary doubled! But she’s not exactly making tens of millions.
Rometty, who took over as CEO at the start of 2012, just saw her salary take a jump from $800,000 to $1.5 million a year. With bonus factored in, last year she made $1.47 million. This year, she’s on track to make $3.5 million, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.
It’ll probably take her a few years to pull in as much as her predecessor was — former CEO Samuel Palmisano was getting paid $6.5 million.
Look: a $1.5 million base salary is huge, but it puts her somewhere around 400 down the list in terms of CEO pay. For a company as recognizable as IBM, it’s not certainly not exorbitant.
