It might seem crazy to anyone who’s deal with roommates, but it wasn’t so long ago that living alone (especially if you were a woman) was seen as a little odd. That has changed radically, however, as far more single people are choosing to live alone. Whether it’s because people choose to delay marriage or prefer to carve out more personal space with growing financial independence, it’s an interesting phenomenon, and a nice counterpoint to all the hand-wringing over young people living in their parents’ basements.
