We’re Relaunching as The Jane Dough, a Site about Women in Business

Over the last week you may have noticed some changes here at Mogulite — and now we are preparing to make it official.

On December 5, Mogulite will be relaunching with a new look, a new focus and a brand new name: TheJaneDough.com. As was reported in TechCrunch today, our new site will explore the world of business through the female prism. We want to celebrate women who’ve found success, call out sexism where we see it, and dissect how powerful women are treated in the media.

This decision came after careful consideration (and advocacy on our part) with our publisher/founder Dan Abrams. Over the last several months Associate Editor Hillary Reinsberg and I found a common thread among stories we loved to write: they were all a reflection of our views, as women who cover the business world. Our take on obnoxious women’s stereotypes, radical CEOs who are promoting female executives, and the absurd coverage that workplace sexism gets in the press — these were the stories we got really excited about — and, judging by the traffic, our readers got fired up over them, as well.

We’ll cover some of the familiar names and faces you’ve seen on Mogulite but most will be the all too few women on our current power grid. This new step means we’re taking on the business beat from a more personal standpoint. I hope you’ll join us next Monday when we launch.

Really looking forward to reading it — especially as a business woman trying to make it in this economy …

This is a fantastic idea, and couldn’t agree more: the articles on women in business are entertaining and valuable.  Really looking forward to more on this.

It must be sad to be that cynical.  Personally, I’m excited for the new direction.

I ‘knead’ this website, because it’s like… soooo hard to look up real news on sites when I’m barefoot in the kitchen making my husband his 5:30 dinner.  Questionable branding.

It’s mocking the stereotype… Not unlike Jezebel, The Mary Sue and lots of other women’s sites that take negative cliches and turn them on their heads. Women have redefined what it means to “bring in the dough.” Our site will celebrate that.

As women journalists, you both will be all too familiar with gender issues.  How refreshing to see  Abrams promote this perspective.  Good luck to you all.  Looking forward to JaneDough.
