Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Launch Gloria Sanchez Productions

And we thought this week’s news stories wouldn’t be able to trump the magnificence of BBC Television Director Danny Cohen banning all-male comedy show panels. What fools we mortals be! Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have announced plans to expand their production company Gary Sanchez and launch a sister company, Gloria Sanchez Productions. According to Deadline, the new label will generate female-centric film and TV projects. Longtime Gary Sanchez executive Jessica Elbaum, who has worked on Bachelorette and the Kristen Wiig comedy Welcome to Me, will head the label and court fresh female voices for Gloria Sanchez projects.
Of course, we’d prefer it if a production company privileging female talent wasn’t massive news and instead was just a real casual quotidian blurb, but alas — beggars with vaginas can’t be choosers because then they’ll call us bitches and set fire to all of our shoulder pads. And take away our birth control. Because why not.
With all this good news coming down the mountain, we’re a bit suspicious of whether Mercury is really in retrograde. Maybe Mercury’s retrograde period doesn’t actually throw off the balance of the universe? Maybe it has no effect on us at all? ….No way; all of this is just a weird coincidence! Definitely a weird coincidence. Now excuse us as we go dance under the moon as thanks for all this good lady news and spread funny female energy to all four corners of the Earth.
