Female Business Leaders “More Benevolent” Than Men

Here’s another reason the world might be a brighter place with more women in charge: We’re more benevolent.

This is according to a new report from the journal of Management Science, which surveyed upwards of 600 CEOs and board members in Switzerland to answer a fundamental question about women, men and business: “Does Gender Matter?”

Their findings, unsurprisingly, showed that yes it matters quite a bit.

Women and male company directors differed not only from the rest of the population, but also differed from one another:

Consistent with findings for the population, female directors are more benevolent and universally concerned but less power oriented than male directors. However, in contrast to findings for the population, they are less tradition and security oriented than their male counterparts.

How, exactly, one measures benevolence is anyone’s guess. But now one study says we’re nicer! You’re welcome, boardrooms.
