Why Women Are A Car Dealer’s Worst Nightmare
2:47 pm, January 25th | by Hillary Reinsberg
A new survey says women are “more thoughtful” when choosing cars. In other words, keep selling your automobiles to men. They’re less discerning.
Time reports:
“Women seem to take a different, more prudent approach to car buying. LeaseTrader reviewed customer correspondences throughout 2011 and found that women asked different questions than men. Female buyers were more likely to inquire about a vehicle’s accident history, safety performance, and overall functionality. Guys, on the other hand, tended to focus more on aesthetics, technology, and driving and engine performance.”
Kudos for portraying it as, “Oh, women are more conscientious buyers!”, but we have a feeling as to how this will get played out at the dealership. In which case, it’s a lesson for everyone! Men — don’t get too caught up on the slick paintjob and the horsepower. Did you see that the car doesn’t even have airbags? And ladies, for godssake, stop being so uptight about how many accidents the car had last year! You’ll be fine. Just kidding. Keep asking for that CarFax!
