If you’re anything like us, you’re looking forward to this Sunday as an opportunity to forget about work, eat a lot of dip, and watch two teams of grown men destroy each other. But there’s a dark specter looming over this year’s Super Bowl festivities, and we’re not just talking about the possibility that our idol and spirit guide Beyoncé will be lip-syncing again.
Every year, people look forward to the advertising blitz that is the Super Bowl almost as much as they do to the actual game. Paradoxically, the knowledge that extra-close attention will be paid to the content of commercials seems to make some companies decide to get extra offensive…perhaps because they know that it will bring them free publicity, however negative? We’re sure we’ll be shaking our heads Monday morning over a whole new crop of sexist ads, but in the meantime here are the worst offenders from last year.
