The Jane Dough’s Top 10 Worst Women Of 2011

We love covering the inspiring, wonderful, trailblazing women who changed the world in 2011. But we’d be lying if we said all women were great. Herein,
The Jane Dough‘s (subjective of course) list of those 10 women who most made us cringe, wince and feel generally angry over the past year.
Are there worse women in the world than some of these ones? No doubt. But these high-profile figures set a bad tone for the better gender in 2011. Agree to disagree with some of our choices? Let us know in the comments. And tell us who we missed.
Kim Kardashian orchestrated a wedding from which she profited
around $18 million, including a TV special that some of us forced ourselves to watch. Unsurprisingly, the marriage lasted only a few weeks, leaving America feeling like it had been, in a way, swindled. Somehow, she disgustingly manages to continue pocketing millions and even worse -- girls still view her as a role model. We're also seriously sick of the media placing her on their "most interesting people" lists. She's not interesting -- she's a scam. (And her clothes are reportedly produced under "slavelike" conditions. Okay, we'll stop now).
Though Gloria Allred is billed as a "feminist," she tends to latch on to sex- and gender-related cases in what appears to be an endless and tired effort to promote herself. This year, she managed to wiggle her way back into the spotlight by
representing Herman Cain sexual harassment accuser Sharon Bialek. In our opinion, Allred tends to trivialize otherwise serious issues by turning them into a parade for herself, using legitimate victims as props along the way.
As protests raged in Tunisia, the country's first lady fled the country with $55 million worth of gold, aboard her "shopping plane," which she used for extravagant designer shopping trips around the world. As Tunisians and others across the Middle East protested for a better life, Trabelsi
became her country's 21st century Imelda Marcos.
She's the only current female presidential candidate, which is a shame, because she's practically anti-women. Not only is she vehemently anti-abortion, she has also
openly said that she believes women should be submissive to their husbands.
Heads turned when a new face appeared at New York Fashion Week this year, ready to put on a show. The face was that of Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of Uzbekistan's dictator Islam Karimov. Why's that so bad? As our friends at
put it: "She’s also been called, rather unapologetically, Styleite 'the most hated person' in Uzbekistan. And that’s because she not only abides the vice grip her father has on the Uzbeki people — she thrives on it. She’s used his power and influence to get almost everything she wants, and if that includes making the people or corporations who stand in the way of what she wants disappear or crumble like puff pastry, so be it. (It’s worth noting that she has been rumored to have ties with the Russian mafia.) As a result, international human rights activists don’t think Karimov deserves the spotlight shining on her or her designs at the same time 'the Uzbek government continues to engage in … torture and forced child labor.'"
"most hated woman" famously pronounced the insane laundry list of things she required in a future husband, which...won her a reality show. She's most reviled for publicly saying "no one can compare to me in 300 years before and after." Her nauseating entitlement and absurd demands make her perhaps the worst of the world's already quite awful reality stars. She's now fled China... and is apparently a manicurist in Brooklyn? Weird.
The mayor of Troy, Michigan went from relative obscurity to one of America's most reviled when she posted a
Facebook status update that read: "I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there." Though she apologized, the move was seen as merely political and her defense of "I am human" was hardly convincing. Being human doesn't entitle you to bigotry.
Shirley Phelps-Roper is the spokesperson for Westboro Baptist Church and frequently acts as the public face of the group that protests at funerals and is known for their "God Hates Fags" picketing signs. This year, Phelps-Roper stood behind and defended the group as it
protested the funerals of Steve Jobs and the victims of the Tuscson, Arizona shooting.
The Internet collectively dropped its mouth last month when a
video of a British woman spewing some of the most racist hate speech we've ever heard on a U.K. subway. The 34-year-old , who repeatedly shouted "None of you are f**ing British" and used tons of racial slurs, has since been arrested. The video, "My Experience On The Tram," shocked us by how bigoted people can be in 2011, even in public. Here's to better things in 2012.
Hermon Raju rose to internet infamy over the summer, after a video emerged of her
chewing out a Metro-North employee. Her indignant cries of "Do you know what schools I've been to!?" and "Do you know how well-educated I am?!" made her a viral villain. But when Raju later said the online backlash made her feel "raped by the internet," she reached a whole other level of ridiculous.
