Jane Lynch: ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Could Inspire You Professionally And Personally

“Wreck-It Ralph” may be a kid’s flick, but it’s definitely applicable to the adult world, according to star Jane Lynch, who says the film explores the necessity of self-reinvention and risk-taking.

The flick, which hits theaters early next year, follows the life of video game bad guy Ralph (played by John C. Reilly) who is tired of his villainous, destructive role and wants to escape the game through the wires. I found the trailer rather intriguing for a children’s production, and Lynch feels the same. She said of Ralph:

“I think it’s about being stuck in your life and feeling like you need a change, which Ralph does. He’s the bad guy, he doesn’t want to do it any more and nobody respects him. So he takes a chance and he jumps his game and he goes to other worlds and he ends up meeting Vanellope, who is a person just like him. They get each other, they end up loving each other. It’s about taking a risk and shaking things up for yourself.”

Who said grown-ups can’t learn from Disney movies? If you’re unsatisfied with what you’re doing personally and professionally, follow Ralph’s lead and make some changes…or just become a Jane Lynch fangirl. She knows exactly what she’s talking about.
